RBAC
This seems to be the newest buzzword in the Identity Management market. What is RBAC? It’s a $20 word that stands for Role Based Access Control. Basically, someone wrapped a string of words to create a new acronym for what we’ve already been implementing and recommending for years.
One question I received is, “Where are the Roles in Oracle Identity Manager?”
OIM has Roles, but in the user form they’re labeled as “Employee Type”. The other field on the Identity profile that is commonly mistaken as the Role is “User Type”. This actually maps to Xellerate Type.
If you want to add additional fields to either of these, you can modify the corresponding Loookup Definitions:
Roles = Lookup.Users.Role
Xellerate Type = Lookup.Users.XellerateType
So get your RBAC on with proper use of roles in Oracle Identity Manager!
